In 2018 the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) received more than 400 applications to the Innovating Justice Challenge, which were assessed with five criteria in mind: impact, sustainability, scalability, uniqueness and team. Only seven finalists were selected, including Epoq Legal South Africa

The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) and their Justice Accelerator programmes scout and support SMEs operating in the legal fraternity, through providing grant funding, acceleration, justice sector expertise and networking opportunities. HiiL have selected the regional finalists for the 2018 edition of the Innovating Justice Challenge, seven of which are from South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The first of seven Regional Finals of the HiiL Innovating Justice Challenge took place in Johannesburg in September 2018. After a few gruelling days of training and networking finalists had to pitch their start-up to an experienced panel, being judged on four criteria: impact on access to justice, (financial) sustainability, potential for growth and overall presentation.

Epoq Legal South Africa is one of twelve African start-ups selected to join the six-month long Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) Justice Accelerator programme. Being selected for the programme is an “exciting” moment in the companies brief history.

In April 2019 Epoq Legal SA officially launched their FREE online legal drafting tool for NPO’s.

JusDraft was created to help non-profit organisations create court forms, contracts, wills and more without the need for an attorney, completely FREE of charge.
